Israeli Website: An Inevitable Confrontation with Turkey on Syrian Soil

An Israeli military source told the Walla news website that a direct confrontation between Tel Aviv and Ankara will take place in Syria, stressing that this scenario is inevitable.

According to the military source cited by the website, the Syrian government is engaged in talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan regarding the handover of a field unit in the Palmyra region to the Turkish army. In return, Syria would receive economic, military, and political aid from Turkey.

The report highlighted Israel’s growing concerns over Turkey’s military presence east of Homs, as it would grant Ankara access to southern Syria, potentially leading to direct friction with Israeli forces operating in the area.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army continues its incursions into southern Syria and is reinforcing its presence in the buffer zone, while its air force targets Syrian military sites, which it claims pose a threat.
