Lebanese Army: 4 Israeli Helicopters Spotted During Airdrop in Baalbek, Eastern Lebanon

The Lebanese Army announced the death of three soldiers during an Israeli airdrop operation accompanied by airstrikes in the Beqaa region, eastern Lebanon, near the Lebanese-Syrian border.

In its statement, the army said its units detected four Israeli helicopters over the Khraibeh – Baalbek area, with two of the aircraft conducting an airdrop of a military force in the vicinity, coinciding with wide-scale airstrikes targeting nearby villages.

The statement added that the specialized military units took immediate alert and defensive measures, deploying flares to locate the airdrop site, noting that the deployed forces had withdrawn from sight before the units reached the landing area.

The Lebanese Army explained that the operation involved shelling and sweeps in the area, followed by an exchange of fire between the Israeli force and some local residents after the force moved from the landing site to the Nabi Sheet area. The operation lasted until approximately 3:00 a.m., also resulting in the deaths of several civilians due to the airstrikes that accompanied the operation.
