Rising Death Toll at Nasser Medical Complex

The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed that the death toll from the Nasser Medical Complex bombing in Gaza has risen to 16 people, including five journalists and several medics. According to the Palestinian news agency WAFA, the Israeli airstrike targeted the hospital compound in Khan Younis, leaving dozens injured, many in critical condition.

Medical sources reported that the bombing claimed the lives of several journalists:

U.S. Position

U.S. President Donald Trump described the situation in Gaza as “a nightmare” and stressed the urgent need to release the 20 hostages still held by Hamas. Commenting on the Nasser Medical Complex bombing, Trump said he was not informed of the strike beforehand and expressed discontent with the targeting of the hospital:

“I’m not happy about it. I don’t want to see that. At the same time, we must end this nightmare in Gaza.”

Israeli Military Response

The Israeli army admitted carrying out a strike near the hospital and announced that Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi had ordered a preliminary investigation. In an official statement, the army said:

“The IDF regrets any harm caused to uninvolved individuals. We do not target journalists as such, and we make every effort to minimize civilian casualties while maintaining the security of our forces.”

Palestinian and International Outrage

Palestinian organizations condemned the attack as a war crime, stressing that the targeting of hospitals and journalists violates international humanitarian law. Human rights groups and press associations worldwide echoed these concerns, calling for an independent investigation and demanding protection for medical facilities and media workers in conflict zones.
