New Diplomatic Move Between Moscow and Washington… Ongoing Efforts Toward Normalizing Relations
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to meet today, Friday, with Steve Witkoff, the special envoy of the U.S. President, to discuss ways to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
Peskov stated that the meeting presents an opportunity to convey Russia’s position directly to U.S. President Donald Trump. He also suggested that the discussion might touch on the possibility of a future meeting between Putin and Trump.
In a related development, Russia’s TASS news agency reported that Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian President’s special representative for investment and international economic cooperation, also met with Witkoff today in St. Petersburg, following a previous bilateral meeting in Washington.
This meeting is part of ongoing consultations between Russia and the United States regarding the normalization of bilateral relations. Moscow has reiterated its commitment to achieving a lasting and peaceful resolution to the Ukrainian conflict, based on respecting the interests of all parties involved.
Earlier, President Putin proposed the formation of a temporary administration in Ukraine under United Nations supervision, aiming to open the door for genuine negotiations toward a settlement.
