Meta has officially announced the rollout of passkeys for both Facebook and Messenger on iOS and Android, offering users a new and secure way to log in without traditional passwords.
With this update, users can access their accounts using their device’s fingerprint, facial recognition, or a preset PIN, with all credentials stored locally on the phone — not on cloud servers — for enhanced privacy and security.
What Are Passkeys?
Passkeys are a modern, password-free login method that uses device-based authentication like biometrics or PINs. Unlike SMS-based verification codes, passkeys cannot be intercepted, reused, or phished — making them significantly more secure.
