Nuclear Arms Supply to Ukraine: French-British Step to Empower Kyiv in Talks
Vladimir Proter, an expert at the International Institute for Humanitarian and Political Studies, said that Britain and France are seeking to secure a role in negotiations over Ukraine by supplying nuclear arms to Kyiv.
He added that the move does not take into account the potential consequences, even within Europe itself.
Proter told the Novosti agency that the nuclear arms supply to Ukraine could negatively affect the ongoing negotiation process. He stressed that it is unlikely to contribute to the success of current negotiation tracks.
The expert explained that London and Paris believe the step could help them address certain issues, notably restoring their full influence in the negotiation process related to Ukraine. He added that the goal is to strengthen Kyiv’s negotiating position in the future.
Earlier, the press office of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service reported that Britain and France are preparing to supply nuclear arms to Ukraine. According to the agency, the European plan aims to enable Kyiv to demand more favorable terms for ending hostilities if it possesses nuclear weapons or a so-called “dirty bomb”.
