Trump Challenges Federal Court Ruling and Prepares Response — Sends a Personal Message to Musk

U.S. President Donald Trump issued a sharp criticism on Friday of a recent federal trade court decision that overturned most of the comprehensive tariffs previously imposed by his administration. Trump described the ruling as “wrong and politicized” and expressed hope that the Supreme Court would review and overturn the decision.

In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump emphasized the need for the U.S. President to have the authority to implement measures aimed at protecting the American economy from external threats, including the imposition of tariffs when necessary.

Trump Administration Appeals Ruling, Considers Alternative Plan

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, the Trump administration is considering a temporary plan to reinstate tariffs if legal appeals prove unsuccessful. On Thursday, the administration formally filed an appeal against the May 28, 2025, court ruling, which determined that only Congress holds the authority to impose such tariffs.

The administration criticized the decision as judicial overreach. A White House spokesperson stated that “unelected judges lack the expertise to manage national emergencies effectively,” reiterating the administration’s commitment to its “America First” economic policy.

Trump–Musk Meeting Set as Term Concludes

Separately, Trump announced plans to hold a joint press conference on Friday with American billionaire Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, marking the end of Musk’s tenure as a special government employee in the federal “Government Efficiency Management” initiative.

“Today is Elon Musk’s last day in the administration. He’s been great and will continue to support us going forward,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Musk confirmed the conclusion of his approximately 130-day service in a post on platform X (formerly Twitter), commending the administration’s efforts to restructure and streamline the federal government. Official statements indicate that the initiative led to a 12% reduction in the federal civilian workforce—equivalent to 260,000 positions out of a total 2.3 million employees.

Musk concluded his remarks by stating: “Federal Government Efficiency Management is not just a temporary initiative—it’s a long-term approach that will reshape the future of public administration.”
