Ongoing Prisoner Exchange Between Aleppo’s Public Security and SDF

The Media Directorate in Aleppo has denied circulating rumors about the suspension of the ongoing prisoner exchange between the Aleppo Public Security Directorate and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The directorate confirmed that the agreement remains in effect and is being carried out according to the planned schedule. It stated that most of the rumors about this agreement are spread by parties negatively affected by the current state of stability in the country and who seek to disturb the political atmosphere.

It also clarified that the exchange process will resume in the coming days, and that both security and organizational arrangements are currently underway to complete the swap as quickly as possible.

SDF-Public Security Prisoner Exchange

It is worth noting that the Civil Council of the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods in Aleppo began implementing an agreement with the committee assigned by the Syrian presidency several days ago.

The agreement includes a major prisoner exchange, under which armed factions—now integrated into the newly formed Syrian Army—will release 170 SDF fighters. In return, the SDF will release 400 fighters from various factions held due to previous clashes. The agreement is reportedly supported by the United States.
