Bloomberg: Russian billionaires gain $22 billion since start of the year

Data from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index (BBI) showed that the combined wealth of Russian billionaires has increased by approximately $22.45 billion since the beginning of the year. Businessman Alisher Usmanov recorded the largest gain, adding $4.86 billion to reach a total net worth of $18.1 billion, ranking seventh among Russia’s wealthiest billionaires. The index is based on stock price valuations or ratios such as market capitalization to earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA).

According to the report, the total net worth of the 20 Russian billionaires listed in the BBI reached about $308.18 billion as of November 1. Vladimir Potanin, the main shareholder in Norilsk Nickel, retained the top spot with a wealth of $29.8 billion after a $1.91 billion increase. He was followed by Alexey Mordashov of Severstal with $28.1 billion, and Vagit Alekperov, co-owner of Lukoil, with $25.5 billion.

Leonid Mikhelson of Novatek maintained fourth place with a net worth of $24.7 billion, followed by Vladimir Lisin of NLMK in fifth place with $23 billion, despite a $2.86 billion decline. Andrey Melnichenko ranked sixth with $20.2 billion, followed by Mikhail Prokhorov with $15.6 billion, and Telegram founder Pavel Durov with $14.7 billion. Mikhail Fridman rounded out the top ten with a net worth of $14.2 billion.
