Saudi Arabia Hosts Munich Security Conference to Discuss Middle East Challenges
The city of AlUla in Saudi Arabia has launched the “Munich Security Conference”, with the participation of more than 100 senior policymakers and international experts. The event aims to provide a high-level platform for dialogue, addressing current security challenges and exploring possible solutions, underscoring the importance of holding such a meeting in the Middle East.
The conference agenda in Saudi Arabia covers key issues including the regional nuclear framework, the political future of Syria, the conflict between Israel and Hamas and the related humanitarian crisis in Gaza. It also addresses the security of the Red Sea, the civil war in Sudan, food security, climate and energy security, and artificial intelligence, in addition to international trade and the geopolitical economy. On its sidelines, the Middle East Consultative Group will continue its discussions on ways to enhance regional cooperation.
Wolfgang Ischinger, Chairman of the Munich Security Conference Foundation, emphasized that the Middle East stands at a crossroads amid dynamic international changes. He noted that the meeting aims to create a space for dialogue and to outline possible solutions, with discussions set to continue in upcoming editions of the conference, which will run for three days in AlUla.
