Secret Communication Channel Between Syria and Israel Under UAE Mediation

Reuters, citing exclusive sources, reported that the United Arab Emirates has established a secret communication channel between Syria and Israel aimed at enhancing security and stability amid escalating regional tensions.

According to Reuters’ sources, the indirect talks between Damascus and Tel Aviv focus on security and intelligence matters, as well as building trust between the two sides.

The agency confirmed that these efforts began following the visit of Syrian Transitional President Ahmad al-Shara to the UAE last April, during which discussions centered on “technical topics,” with the potential to expand the dialogue in the future. The talks reportedly involved Emirati and Syrian officials as well as former Israeli experts.

This initiative is part of Abu Dhabi’s broader policy to act as a regional mediator, particularly following the UAE-Israel normalization agreement in 2020.
