Shoigu: Two-State Solution Is the Key to Peace in the Middle East

Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu affirmed that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is essential for achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.

His remarks came during a video address to the second session of high-level security representatives from BRICS countries, where he emphasized the need to stop the bloodshed and create conditions for a political settlement based on international law.

Earlier, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres warned that the two-state solution is “at risk of disappearing,” even though it represents a legitimate aspiration for the region’s peoples toward a future free of conflict and ongoing suffering.
