Strange Incident: Mobile Phone Extracted from Patient’s Stomach!
In a bizarre and astonishing incident, a medical team at Mansoura University in Egypt successfully extracted a mobile phone from a patient’s stomach after it had remained in his digestive system for six years.
The patient visited the hospital complaining of severe and persistent abdominal pain, along with unexplained weight loss. After conducting the necessary examinations, doctors discovered an unidentified metallic object inside his stomach. Through a surgical procedure, they extracted the object, which turned out to be an old mobile phone.
The patient revealed to the doctors that he had swallowed the phone six years ago and had repeatedly tried to retrieve it but failed, according to Dr. Asmaa Jameel, who was part of the medical team that performed the surgery.
Dr. Jameel, a lecturer in gastroenterology and endoscopy at Mansoura University in Dakahlia Governorate, northern Egypt, explained that the patient’s stomach had suffered severe inflammation due to the prolonged presence of the phone. This also resulted in a 30-kilogram weight loss.
She confirmed that the patient’s condition is stable and that he is under full medical supervision, noting that this case is extremely rare, especially given that the phone’s battery did not explode inside his stomach over such a long period.
