Strong Earthquake Hits the Philippines, Aftershocks Expected

The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a 5.6-magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale in Luzon Island, Philippines, on Monday. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology stated that the earthquake struck the town of Bangui in the northern Ilocos region. While significant damage is not expected, the institute warned of possible aftershocks.
It is worth noting that earthquakes are common in the Philippines due to its location on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” where volcanic and seismic activities are frequent.
