Successful Conference and New Decisions: PKK Responds to Öcalan’s Message

The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) announced that it held a successful conference this week to initiate its dissolution, two months after Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan called for the party to disband and lay down arms.

In a statement released on Friday, the PKK confirmed that its 12th congress was successfully held in the “Medya Defense Zones” from May 5 to 7, in direct response to Öcalan’s appeal.

The statement noted that historically significant decisions were made based on Öcalan’s message, aimed at disarmament and dissolving the party, with a promise to announce the details soon.
