Hakan Fidan Reveals Details of His Surprise Visit to Syria and Talks with Al-Sharaa
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan affirmed that Turkey will continue its support for the Syrian government in its fight against terrorist organizations, noting the progress Syria has made in several fields during his third visit to Damascus within nine months. Fidan emphasized his determination, alongside President Al-Shar’s leadership, to deepen cooperation between the two countries across various sectors.
During his meeting with the Syrian president, Fidan discussed trade, investment, transportation, and energy issues, in addition to possible bilateral and regional steps for reconstruction, with a particular focus on security matters and the threats facing the country’s sovereignty and political unity.
Fidan also indicated Turkey’s readiness to provide necessary support in managing and securing camps in the northeast. He stressed that the international community, including the United States and European countries, offers significant assistance to the government. Meanwhile, he described Israel’s policies as aiming to destabilize the region, warning of a shared international responsibility to prevent tolerance of such policies.
