Syria: Al-Sharrah Sets Liberation and Revolution Holidays, Cancels Others
Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharrah issued a new decree regarding official holidays in the country, canceling holidays associated with the October War, Martyrs’ Day, and Teacher’s Day, while introducing Liberation Day and Syrian Revolution Day as official public holidays, with March 18/آذار and December 8/كانون الأول set as official celebration dates.
This announcement came during President Al-Sharrah’s visit to the National Library in Damascus to follow up on the progress of the People’s Assembly elections. He noted that the electoral process followed substantial efforts over several months, marking the transition from a period of war and chaos to a new electoral experience with citizen participation.
Al-Sharrah emphasized the importance of Syrian citizens participating in rebuilding their country, stressing the need to approve pending legislation and continue with the reconstruction process, focusing on new achievements required in the upcoming period to advance the national development agenda.
