Lebanon Launches Phase Five of Voluntary Return for Syrian Refugees

The Lebanese government has begun implementing the fifth phase of the organized return plan for Syrian refugees, overseen by the General Directorate of General Security through the Al-Masna border center with Syria.

This phase is part of ongoing efforts to ensure the voluntary and safe return of Syrian refugees after years of residence in Lebanon, which hosts one of the largest populations of displaced Syrians in the region.

The operations are being conducted in coordination between the Lebanese and Syrian authorities, with the participation of international and humanitarian organizations, including the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the Lebanese Red Cross, to ensure appropriate humanitarian and security conditions for returnees.

According to the Syrian news agency “SANA,” 406 Syrian refugees arrived at the Jdeidet Yabous crossing in rural Damascus as part of the voluntary return program. Return operations are expected to continue in the coming days under a comprehensive plan organizing the gradual return of displaced persons, in coordination with relevant international organizations.
