Tehran Escalates: Suspension of Cooperation with IAEA, Accusations Against Grossi, Compensation Demands, and Preparedness to Respond

Iranian media reported that the Iranian parliament has approved a draft law to suspend Tehran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) following recent developments related to the Iranian nuclear program.

On Wednesday, June 25, the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee approved the draft law, which also includes a clause calling for prosecuting the IAEA Director General, Rafael Grossi, on charges of providing “false reports” and “spying” on Iranian nuclear facilities.

The Iranian news agency ISNA quoted Iran’s ambassador to Vienna, Asadollah Asgaroladi Jahromi, stating that cooperation with the IAEA was functioning well prior to recent events, with all Iranian nuclear facilities fully supervised by the agency. He added, “The necessary decision regarding the future of cooperation will be made.”

Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf confirmed that the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran will suspend its cooperation with the IAEA until the security of nuclear facilities is assured, emphasizing that “the peaceful Iranian nuclear program will advance at a faster pace.”

In a related development, Tehran has called on the United States to pay compensation for damages inflicted on Iranian nuclear facilities, announcing its intention to file an official complaint with the United Nations.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh stated that Iran has informed Washington through mutual messages that it will not enter negotiations unless the attacks cease and the United States assumes responsibility. He added that Iran has no written agreement with Israel, clarifying that what occurred was a ceasefire by the Israeli side, while Tehran remains prepared without conducting any attacks.
