The death of an Italian soccer legend

The media announced the death of Italian soccer player Paolo Rossi, the top scorer for Italy’s 1982 World Cup winning team, at the age of 64.

Rossi’s wife, Federica Cappelletti, confirmed the news. She posted a photo of her with her late husband on Instagram and wrote “Forever”.

During four seasons with Juventus, Rossi won the Italian League title twice in addition to the European Cup once and the Italian Cup on one occasion, but his career with the national team will remain linked to his scoring six goals in the 1982 World Cup to lead Italy to the title for the third time in its history.

Rossi scored a hat-trick against Brazil in the second round, plus two goals in the 2-0 win over Poland in the semi-final, then scored in the 3-1 victory over Germany in the final.
