A 5-magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale struck the Marmara Sea region on Thursday, felt by residents of Istanbul and surrounding areas in Turkey.

According to the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the epicenter was near the coast of Tekirdağ Province along the Marmara Sea, at a depth of 6.71 kilometers. Authorities continue to monitor the situation to ensure the safety of citizens.
