Turkey: No Troops in Ukraine, Welcomes Role as Dialogue Venue

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan confirmed his country’s readiness to host peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, emphasizing Turkey’s ongoing efforts to end the war and reach a settlement.

The Turkish presidency stated that Erdoğan discussed with French President Emmanuel Macron via phone the regional and international developments, including bilateral relations, the peace process between Moscow and Kyiv, and the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Erdoğan reiterated Turkey’s close monitoring of meetings related to Ukraine and its readiness to host any negotiations between the parties.

Meanwhile, the Turkish Ministry of Defense denied reports about sending a peacekeeping force to Ukraine, describing them as “inaccurate” and “unfounded.” The ministry emphasized that priority is given to consolidating a ceasefire, followed by establishing a clear framework for any potential international mission, highlighting Turkey’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region.
