Turkey Unveils Advanced Version of Amphibious Armored Vehicle “ZAHA” at IDEF 2025

Turkey’s defense industry has unveiled an upgraded version of its amphibious armored assault vehicle, “ZAHA”, the first of its kind to be fully developed and manufactured domestically. The development is part of Ankara’s broader efforts to expand its defense capabilities and boost military exports.

Significant Economic Contribution by Turkish Defense Industry

Official data indicate that the systems and vehicles delivered to Turkish security forces have contributed over $40 billion to the national economy, reflecting the success of government policies aimed at localizing defense technology.

“ZAHA” Amphibious Vehicle: Combat Capabilities on Land and Water

The ZAHA armored vehicle officially entered service in 2023. It is primarily used to transport troops from ships to shores during amphibious operations. The vehicle is characterized by high maneuverability and speed, making it a critical element in complex naval operations.

The initial version was equipped with a combat turret called “ÇAKA”, featuring a 12.7mm machine gun and a 40mm grenade launcher. This turret was designed to withstand harsh maritime conditions and is user-friendly and effective in the field.

🛡️ New Advanced Armament: ÇAKA 30/AT-O Turret

The new version of “ZAHA,” to be showcased at IDEF 2025 in Istanbul, is equipped with a modern combat turret named “ÇAKA 30/AT-O”, which includes:

  • A 30mm automatic cannon of the “CANiK VENOM LR” model
  • Two guided anti-tank missiles of the “OMTAS” type, manufactured by Roketsan

This upgrade enables the vehicle to engage:

  • Main battle tanks
  • Fortifications
  • Armored vehicles
  • Unmanned aerial vehicles (drones)

🔄 Variety in Versions and Roles

An additional turret variant, “ÇAKA AT-K”, will also be unveiled, featuring:

  • A heavy 12.7mm machine gun
  • Two short-range anti-tank missiles

This diversification provides the vehicle with flexible tactical capabilities for both defensive and offensive missions, enhancing its operational versatility across various military scenarios.

🌍 Turkey Continues Expansion in Defense Industry

This development underscores Turkey’s clear direction toward achieving defense self-sufficiency, alongside its strategy to export military products to global markets. Projects like “ZAHA” reinforce Turkey’s position as an emerging industrial power in the defense sector.
