Turkish-Israeli Diplomatic Tensions Escalate After Harsh Exchanges

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected remarks by Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, claiming they were intended to cover up the casualties of Israel’s military operations in Gaza. The response came after Sa’ar posted on Platform X, accusing Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of anti-Semitism and calling him a “threat to the region and his own people.”

Israel’s Response

In retaliation, the Israeli Foreign Ministry issued a statement attacking Erdoğan, claiming he had “revealed his true face” and accusing him of destabilizing several countries in the region. Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen also escalated the rhetoric, stating that the Turkish regime “will fall.”

A Longstanding Dispute Since 2010

This escalation comes amid ongoing diplomatic tensions between the two countries, which have worsened following Israel’s latest war on Gaza. In response, Ankara has taken measures against Tel Aviv, including suspending certain trade and military ties and supporting the Palestinian cause in international forums.

The roots of the Turkish-Israeli dispute trace back to 2010 when Israeli forces attacked the Gaza-bound Freedom Flotilla, killing 10 Turkish activists and triggering a severe diplomatic crisis between the two nations.
