Turkish-Russian agreement to buy gas in rubles

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed to sell part of Russian gas to Turkey in rubles.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that “the gas supplies to Turkey, which are supplied in fairly large quantities: 26 billion cubic meters annually, were discussed, and the two presidents agreed that part of the gas supply would be paid for in rubles.”
He pointed out that this is Russia’s strategy to gradually switch to national currencies, in order to stay away from dealing in dollars.
