UAE on Normalization: Flexibility and Balance, Away from Extremism

Lana Nusseibeh, Minister of State at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the goal of normalizing relations with Israel is to “change the way of thinking in the region toward tolerance,” noting that “diplomatic flexibility is a key factor in a fragmented world.”

In a related context, Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to the UAE President, said the country presents “a model of a balanced and rational state that can be relied upon, serving as a trusted friend, supportive ally, and partner in the path toward stability and prosperity.”

Gargash added that extremist views regarding the Palestinian issue “are no longer effective,” emphasizing that “providing security for Israel should go hand in hand with establishing a viable Palestinian state.”

Gargash also stressed that “direct confrontation has not produced positive results for either side,” expressing opposition to any annexation of Palestinian territories, describing it as a “red line,” and noting that the UAE’s peace agreement “contributed to halting annexation plans.” He added that the UAE had announced it would reduce its diplomatic representation in Israel if the country proceeded with annexing parts of the West Bank.
