UAE Urges Immediate Political Solution to End the War in Sudan

The United Arab Emirates called on Wednesday, in early May, for the Sudanese government and all conflicting parties to de-escalate tensions and engage in a comprehensive negotiation process aimed at ending the ongoing war in Sudan. In an official statement, the UAE affirmed that there is no military solution to the Sudanese crisis, stressing the urgent need for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire and for all parties to join the negotiation table in good faith to reach a civilian-led political solution — the only path to peace and stability in Sudan.

In light of the severe humanitarian deterioration in Sudan, the UAE emphasized the importance of not using humanitarian aid as a weapon in the conflict. It called for unhindered access to aid and rejected any attempts to politicize or militarize its distribution. The UAE also urged the international community to intensify efforts to support the political process and alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people, who are facing catastrophic conditions due to the ongoing conflict.

Amid escalating diplomatic tensions, the UAE firmly denied any involvement in supporting any party to the conflict. It reaffirmed its neutral stance and its commitment to providing humanitarian assistance and working with international partners for a peaceful and stable future for Sudan. This statement comes after the Sudanese Defense and Security Council announced the severance of diplomatic ties with the UAE, accusing it of supporting the Rapid Support Forces and recalling its diplomatic staff from Abu Dhabi.
