Norway defeats Italy 3–0 in UEFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers

The Norwegian national football team secured a significant 3–0 victory over Italy in a match held on the evening of Friday, 6 June 2025, at Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo. The game marked the opening round of Group 9 in the UEFA qualification campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Alexander Sørloth opened the scoring for Norway in the 14th minute, followed by a second goal from Antonio Nusa in the 34th minute. Erling Haaland added the third in the 43rd minute, sending the hosts into halftime with a commanding lead.

The second half did not witness any changes to the scoreline, despite several attempts from the Italian side, which struggled to create effective offensive opportunities throughout the match. With this result, Norway now tops Group 9 with 9 points, while Italy remains in fourth place without any points.

The match was officiated by Spanish referee Jesús Gil Manzano and played in front of a large crowd at the stadium. This result marks one of Italy’s most notable defeats in recent World Cup qualifying campaigns.
