UK Announces Stance on War on Iran and Strengthens Military Presence in the Gulf

Over 4,000 Britons Evacuated from UAE Amid Rising Tensions in the War on Iran

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed that London will not join offensive strikes on Iran led by the United States and Israel, describing a negotiated settlement as “the best way forward.”

At the same time, Starmer announced an enhancement of the UK military presence in the Gulf in response to allies’ requests, noting the deployment of four additional Typhoon jets in Qatar and the transfer of military assets to Cyprus and Qatar during January and February to maintain a high state of readiness.

The British Foreign Office stated that F-35B and Typhoon aircraft continued defensive air operations across the Middle East, supported by Voyager refueling aircraft, to protect British interests and those of its allies in the region.

Starmer highlighted concerns among British citizens about the situation in the Middle East, noting that over 4,000 Britons have been evacuated from the UAE, with a new evacuation flight departing from Oman.
