Morocco Officially Launches 5G networks Across Three Companies

The Moroccan government announced the launch of fifth-generation 5G networks through three operating companies in the country: “MoroccoTelecom,” “Medi Telecom,” and “Ona Corporate,” following the government council’s approval of the necessary licensing decrees.

The National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency explained that 5G provides download and upload speeds 10–20 times faster than previous generations, with wider coverage and more stable connections. The network also enables the development of applications such as augmented reality, the Internet of Things (IoT), smart cities, and autonomous vehicles.

Digital Transition Minister Amal El Falah Al-Saghrushni confirmed that the first phase aims to cover 25% of the country, with plans to expand coverage to 70% by 2030. The initiative is part of efforts to support digital transformation and promote economic and social development.
