Witkoff Announces Agreement on the Exchange of 314 Prisoners Within the Abu Dhabi Trilateral Talks

The U.S. Special Envoy, Steve Witkoff, announced that the United States, Russia, and Ukraine have reached an agreement to exchange 314 prisoners of war, marking the first such exchange in five months. Witkoff said the agreement was reached by delegations from the three countries, noting that consultations will continue in the coming period with expectations of further progress.

Witkoff added that the parties still have important work to complete, stating that the agreement reflects tangible outcomes from the ongoing diplomatic track between the United States, Russia, and Ukraine, without providing additional details regarding implementation mechanisms or timing.

The second day of the second round of the Abu Dhabi talks on the Ukrainian settlement concluded today, with the participation of representatives from Russia, the United States, and Ukraine. Discussions focused on issues related to Ukraine’s withdrawal from the Donbas region and security guarantees.

Russia’s Novosti news agency quoted an informed source as saying that the talks were held behind closed doors and described the atmosphere as positive. The first round of trilateral consultations was held in Abu Dhabi on January 23 and 24.
