United States Implements Broad Military Measures in Active War with Venezuela
Kentucky U.S. Senator Rand Paul told NBC in an interview on Sunday that the United States is in an “active war” with Venezuela aimed at controlling Venezuelan oil. He explained that the purpose of these measures is to continue accessing the oil, while expressing hope that the crisis may be resolved.
Senator Paul added that the United States has imposed a full naval blockade on Venezuelan coasts and deployed hundreds of warships off the country’s shores as part of these security operations.
The United States reportedly carried out a large-scale airstrike on Venezuela on January 3, capturing President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores and transferring them to New York, where their first court session was held. They pleaded not guilty to charges related to “drug terrorism.”
Meanwhile, former U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Washington would gain hundreds of billions, or even trillions, of dollars from selling Venezuelan oil. He did not specify an end date for U.S. control over Venezuela but indicated that it would continue “for much longer than one year.”
