America sends multiple missile systems to Kyiv

The United States announced the provision of a new package of military aid to Ukraine, and this assistance may include guided missile systems with a range of approximately 300 km, which Moscow has warned of.
These systems are “MLRS” advanced and long-range missiles, which were the most urgent request by Kyiv officials in their negotiations with the United States to provide them with arms and equipment to resume the offensive on the Donbass region and the Russian forces defending it.
The administration of President Joe Biden hesitated for weeks about sending these systems to Ukraine, fearing a Russian reaction to this step. Indeed, the Russian Foreign Ministry warned against this step, saying that it increases the risk of a “direct clash” between Washington and Moscow.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov commented on Washington’s declaration that any arms supply to Ukraine, no matter how Washington argues, increases the risk of a direct clash between Russia and the United States.
Also, according to CNN, the range of this system can reach 186 miles (297 km), depending on the type of missile, and it is launched from a moving vehicle on ground targets, and therefore it can – in theory – reach into Russian territory.
Perhaps this explains Moscow’s view of this step as a “great threat to the country’s security”, a danger it has warned of for years, despite the claims of Kyiv and the West that Ukraine does not plan to target Russian territory even after the start of the special military operation to protect Donbass.
Western experts attribute Washington’s approval to supply Kyiv with these advanced weapons to the military success achieved by the Russian forces in the eastern region, as they were able to liberate the territories of the Lugansk and Donetsk republics almost completely during the past weeks.
However, the White House said yesterday that the missile systems that the United States will provide to Kyiv “will not be able to strike targets outside Ukrainian territory.”
