Breaking: First Official Response to the Viral Video of Two Syrian Youths Being Assaulted in Iraq

Social media platforms have circulated a video showing a masked group assaulting two Syrian youths working in Iraq.

In the first official reaction, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani ordered the formation of a security team to track down those responsible for these actions, which the government’s official spokesperson described as not reflecting Iraqi values.

The spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces condemned these actions, stating that they violate all humanitarian and ethical values. He emphasized the deep ties between the Iraqi and Syrian peoples and vowed to hold those appearing in the video accountable under the law without leniency.

For its part, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned these acts, calling on the Iraqi government to punish the perpetrators and ensure the safety of Syrians in Iraq.

The ministry also affirmed that Syrian authorities are working with Iraqi officials to address these violations and prevent further incidents.
