The crime unfolded in Delga village, Minya Governorate, where the father and his six children died one after another over a single week in July under mysterious circumstances.
Later investigations revealed that all seven victims had been poisoned with an agricultural pesticide.
Motive Behind the Crime
Prosecution findings concluded that the woman—identified as Hagar Ahmed—carried out the murder of a father and his six children in Egypt as an act of revenge after her husband reconciled with his first wife.
She allegedly mixed poison into the bread she prepared for the family.
Between July 10 and July 25, the six children died, followed by the father. The first wife survived.
Court Proceedings and Testimonies
The defendant attended the opening trial session carrying her infant.
The case proceeded over multiple hearings, during which the court reviewed forensic reports and heard testimony from the children’s mother, who demanded retribution.
On October 11, the court referred the case to the Grand Mufti for a religious ruling, before officially issuing the death sentence today following unanimous approval by the judges.
Confession and Investigation Findings
According to the Ministry of Interior, the defendant confessed to the crime.
Authorities confirmed that her reenactment of the events matched the investigation findings, including her use of the toxic pesticide chlorofenapyr to poison the victims.
