Diego Maradona: Justice Still Seeks Answers
Dr. Mario Alejandro Schter testified in an ongoing trial in Argentina regarding the 2020 death of football legend Diego Maradona.
Schter, who treated Maradona for two decades, stated that the player should have been transferred to a rehabilitation center after brain surgery instead of being sent home, citing difficulties in managing him due to addiction issues.
The trial involves seven medical professionals — including a neurosurgeon, a psychiatrist, and nurses — who face charges of negligence in providing adequate care to Maradona, which may have contributed to his death.
According to the prosecution, the medical team failed to deliver proper care, and the house to which Maradona was moved lacked essential medical equipment. The trial is expected to continue until July, with around 100 witnesses scheduled to testify.
