After ceasefire extension.. Washington continues “Economic Fury” against Iran
Economic Fury: Washington continues pressure on Iran as ceasefire extended today, April 22
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said, following President Donald Trump’s announcement of extending the ceasefire with Iran, that his department would continue the “maximum economic pressure” policy under the “Economic Fury” campaign.
Trump had announced that Pakistan’s leadership requested delaying strikes on Iran, and that he responded to allow room for diplomacy, after the ceasefire deadline expired on Wednesday, April 22.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had announced last week the launch of the “Economic Fury” program to exert maximum pressure on Iran.
