Egypt Strategic Command: Military display unveils S-300VM and Cairo calls for implementation of Gaza and Iran agreements

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi inaugurated the state’s Strategic Command headquarters in the New Administrative Capital on Saturday, in an official ceremony that featured a large military display, during which he linked the enhancement of Egypt’s military capabilities with a call for a political settlement in the Middle East, affirming that lasting peace and stability in the region are tied to resolving the Palestinian issue, while stressing continued development of the armed forces’ capabilities alongside efforts to support regional stability.

Sisi: Peace in the Middle East begins with resolving the Palestinian issue

Sisi affirmed that Egypt, based on its experience in regional affairs, believes that the fundamental solution to Middle East conflicts lies in reaching a comprehensive and just peace that resolves the Palestinian issue and establishes a Palestinian state in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.

He said the region “will not witness lasting peace, genuine stability, or popular normalization except through a just peace that ends the conflict and restores rights,” considering that this would open the door to a new phase of cooperation, stability, and development in the region.

He also called for supporting the two agreements related to Iran and the Gaza Strip, and working toward their full implementation, while preventing any attempts to undermine or circumvent them, noting that Egypt has continued its efforts to de-escalate, end conflicts, and contain regional crises.

Egypt Strategic Command inauguration and large military display

Sisi’s remarks came during the inauguration of the Strategic Command headquarters, one of Egypt’s most prominent modern military projects, aimed at developing the command and control system, strategic operations management, and enhancing coordination between state institutions during crises and emergencies.

The inauguration ceremony featured a military display with formations from various branches of the armed forces, along with a showcase of modern weapons systems and military equipment, attended by senior officials and military leaders.

The headquarters’ inauguration comes within the state’s plan to modernize military infrastructure and develop command, control, and communications systems, enhancing decision-making speed and response to security and strategic challenges.

El-Dabaa nuclear plant developments

On the economic and development front, Sisi announced that Egypt is preparing in the coming days to carry out the reactor pressure vessel installation for the second nuclear unit at the El-Dabaa plant.

He described the project as one of the most prominent examples of strategic partnership between Egypt and Russia, affirming that the plant will contribute to supporting sustainable development and providing clean energy sources.

Sisi extended his thanks to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian Federation for their cooperation in implementing the project, affirming Egypt’s continued implementation of its strategic projects.

Defense Minister: Strategic Command enhances command and control system

For his part, Egyptian Defense Minister Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher said the inauguration of the Strategic Command headquarters represents a new milestone in developing the state’s management system, affirming that the headquarters has become part of the command and control system and enhances planning, follow-up, and decision-making efficiency.

He added that the armed forces continue to implement development and modernization programs in line with the nature of security challenges, affirming their continued role in protecting the country’s security, alongside supporting regional stability.

He noted that the transfer of institutions to the New Administrative Capital enhances the utilization of national assets and opens new horizons for institutional development.

S-300VM system appears for first time in official display

The military display also featured the first official appearance of the Russian-made long-range S-300VM air defense system among the equipment participating in the inauguration ceremony.

The system’s appearance marks the first official announcement from Cairo about its entry into service, after years of unofficial reports circulating about its possession.

The system is one of the long-range air defense systems, designed to counter aircraft, ballistic and cruise missiles, and drones, and comes within Egypt’s policy of diversifying its arms sources and modernizing its air defense systems.

Egypt affirms continued communications on Gaza and Iran

On the foreign policy front, Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty affirmed the continuation of communications with Qatar, Turkey, and Palestinian factions, including Hamas, aimed at reaching understandings on issues related to the Gaza Strip.

He explained that consultations are focused on the weapons collection file and mechanisms for Israeli withdrawal from the Strip, paving the way for implementing the second phase of the plan announced by US President Donald Trump.

Abdelatty noted that Egypt is also continuing coordination with the European Union and regional parties to support the implementation of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, toward a final agreement addressing files related to the nuclear program, freedom of navigation, sanctions, and regional security.
