Scattered Attacks Target Government Sites in Deir Ezzor and Latakia

Attacks on Government Sites in Syria; Nour al-Din Baba Confirms Stability and No Return of ISIS

 

Military and security sites affiliated with the Syrian government were subjected to scattered attacks in the towns of Al-Baghouz and Susa, and the city of Al-Bukamal in Deir Ezzor Governorate, in addition to the Qardaha police station in Latakia Governorate.

Local sources in Deir Ezzor reported that security headquarters and checkpoints under the Ministry of Defense were targeted by ISIS fighters, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights indicated that unidentified gunmen fired at the 86th Brigade headquarters in Al-Bukamal, with no immediate reports of casualties or material damage.

In Latakia Governorate, sources said that gunmen on a motorcycle threw an explosive at the Qardaha police station, prompting officers to return fire, without immediate information on injuries.

Meanwhile, Syrian Interior Ministry spokesperson Nour al-Din Baba confirmed that ISIS will not return to Syria due to the prevailing stability, noting that the Syrian experience in countering terrorism has proven effective.

These attacks follow an audio recording attributed to ISIS spokesperson Abu Hudhayfah al-Ansari, published days ago, which included indications of an attempt by the group to reactivate its cells in the region, along with threats to target the Syrian government.
