Abdel Aaty and Araghchi: Egyptian Foreign Ministry Statement on the Iranian Nuclear File

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aaty met with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi to discuss the Iranian nuclear file, following a call with the Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

In a statement, Abdel Aaty emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to reduce tensions, build trust, and create conditions for resuming dialogue, aiming for a comprehensive agreement that considers the interests of all parties.

The two ministers also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, praising the pace of meetings and communications in recent months, and underscoring the need to maintain consultations and coordination on issues of mutual interest.

Egypt has recently played a mediating role between Iran, the IAEA, and Western powers, achieving an agreement to resume dialogue in October in Cairo. The agreement later faced challenges after the activation of the snapback mechanism.
