The Israeli Security Cabinet is set to meet today, Thursday, in a crucial session, amid growing signs of internal divisions within Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government. These divisions reflect a conflict between military and political approaches regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip.
According to a report by Axios, today’s Cabinet meeting is expected to mark a pivotal shift in Israeli government strategies, as a plan to expand military operations in Gaza will be discussed. The goal is to establish complete control over the Gaza Strip, particularly in areas where prisoners are believed to be held.
Israeli Channel 12 reported that a decision is expected to be made today to expand military operations in Gaza, including taking control of Gaza City and relocating approximately one million Palestinians to the southern part of the strip.
U.S. Position: Non-Interference in Israeli Decisions
In this context, Channel 12 also quoted U.S. officials stating that President Donald Trump does not intend to intervene in Israel’s decision-making regarding Gaza. The U.S. will allow Israel full autonomy in taking military action in the region without direct involvement from Washington.
Additionally, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee announced that the United States would finance the expansion of aid distribution centers in Gaza, increasing the number of these centers from four to 16.
As Israel continues its military plans in Gaza, Israeli reports suggest that these actions are part of a broader strategy to evacuate Palestinians from the central Gaza region and move them to the south.

Meanwhile, protests have erupted in Tel Aviv against the Cabinet’s discussions regarding the potential occupation of Gaza. Demonstrators are calling on Netanyahu’s government to abandon political considerations and focus on negotiating a deal for the release of Palestinian hostages and ending the war. They emphasized the need for peaceful solutions rather than military escalation.

On the ground, media reports indicate that three Palestinians from the same family were killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a residential apartment in Gaza.
The Shati Refugee Camp in the western part of Gaza City also came under heavy bombardment, coinciding with an airstrike on a residential apartment in the Nusseirat Refugee Camp in central Gaza. Additionally, a residential building sheltering displaced individuals in the Shati area was hit, although no exact details on casualties or injuries have been reported.
