Israel Launches Strike on Iran as Nationwide Sirens Activated – Tel Aviv / Tehran

Israel announced a preemptive strike on Iran as multiple explosions were reported in Tehran and nationwide sirens were activated across Israel.

According to Reuters citing Israel’s Defense Ministry, Israel launched a preemptive attack on Iran, while the Israeli defense minister confirmed the start of the operation and a second wave of airstrikes.

The Israeli military said sirens were activated nationwide, schools were closed, public gatherings banned, remote work instructed, and the country’s airspace fully shut down.

Iranian media reported several explosions in central Tehran, with missiles striking areas including University Street and Jomhouri district, as emergency vehicles moved to affected sites.

A U.S. official told media outlets that American forces are participating in joint air operations with Israel.
