Khamenei’s Message to Putin: A Strategic Partnership Between Iran and Russia
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the talks between President Vladimir Putin and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reflect an unprecedented development in the political dialogue between the two countries.
This came during Lavrov’s meeting with his Iranian counterpart, where he noted that President Putin had a long and fruitful conversation with Araghchi and expressed great satisfaction with it. He emphasized that such communication reflects a new dynamic in the political relations between Moscow and Tehran.
For his part, Araghchi affirmed that the message he delivered from Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to the Russian president demonstrates to the world that Moscow is regarded as a strategic partner for Tehran.
Araghchi arrived in Moscow on Thursday, where he discussed with Putin the status of the indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States, as well as the dialogue between Moscow and Washington regarding Ukraine.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov noted that President Putin conveyed positive messages to Khamenei, while Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali spoke about the topics discussed, including strengthening bilateral relations and regional and international cooperation.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry also clarified that Araghchi addressed the ongoing negotiations between Tehran and Washington concerning Iran’s nuclear program.
