Lebanese Army Denies Airspace Violation Over Syria, Affirms Border Surveillance Measures

The Lebanese Army on Sunday denied media reports claiming that its air forces had violated Syrian airspace, reaffirming its commitment to monitoring the country’s border areas and taking necessary measures to maintain security.

In an official statement published on its website, the army command stated that claims regarding reconnaissance missions by the Lebanese Air Force over Syrian territory to monitor military activity in border regions were entirely unfounded.

The statement added that certain media outlets had reported such activity in the context of alleged threats from armed Syrian groups to carry out security operations inside Lebanese territory—an assertion the Lebanese military categorically rejected.

The army emphasized that coordination with Syrian authorities remains ongoing to track any developments along the shared border. It also urged media outlets to exercise caution and verify information before publication, warning of the potential security and media consequences of inaccurate reporting.

It is worth noting that in March, Lebanese border towns experienced an escalation in violence, including shelling originating from within Syrian territory. The Lebanese Army responded by targeting the source of the fire.
