Lebanon Israel ceasefire: Possible week-long truce may begin Thursday
The New York Times reported, citing Israeli officials, that Israel is considering a short-term ceasefire in Lebanon, which could begin Thursday and last about a week.
The newspaper quoted a Lebanese official as saying that Washington informed the Lebanese government that Israel is considering a short-term truce, noting that the Lebanese government does not represent Hezbollah, and that the party has not yet responded to the truce idea.
Meanwhile, Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation (Kan) reported, citing sources, that the security cabinet is meeting to discuss a ceasefire with Lebanon, amid opposition from some members.
It added that Tel Aviv is coordinating with Washington, and is considering the possibility that President Trump may request a ceasefire in Lebanon.

Israel and Lebanon had agreed to hold further direct negotiations “at a mutually agreed upon time and place,” according to a statement from Deputy State Department Spokesperson Tom Pigott following direct talks in Washington on Tuesday.
