Moscow Reveals Details of Assad Removal Mechanism and Reaffirms Firm Stance on Syria
Russian Ambassador in Lebanon: Moscow’s Position on Syria Remains Firm
Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Rudakov stated that Russia’s stance toward Syria remains firm and unchanged, noting that the new Syrian leadership fully understands the importance of strengthening relations with Moscow. He emphasized Russia’s commitment to Syria’s territorial integrity and revealed the mechanism for the removal of the previous Syrian regime in coordination with Washington.
Rudakov highlighted that prior to the ousting of President Bashar al-Assad, there was regular communication between Russian and American military personnel in Syria through what is known as the “deconfliction mechanism,” which helped organize military operations and prevent field incidents.
The ambassador further explained that both sides evaluated the mechanism positively due to its effectiveness in controlling operations on the ground.

Rudakov also noted that Russia has contributed to protecting Lebanon from threats posed by terrorist groups in Syria, stressing that previous Russian interventions helped prevent the expansion of terrorism and ISIS into Lebanese territory, as part of Moscow’s ongoing support for regional stability.
