Budapest Warns of Russia Europe War, Highlights Brussels’ Shift to War Economy

Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban said European Union leaders are preparing for war with Russia and intend to continue supporting military operations in Ukraine, stressing that Hungary will not participate and will remain a “safe and calm island” amid international tensions.

Orban made the remarks during an anti-war rally in Budapest following a march attended by thousands. He noted that the EU has shifted toward what he described as a “war economy,” aiming to send additional funds, weapons, and even troops to Ukraine. He emphasized that Hungarian youth should dedicate their lives to serving their country rather than fighting abroad.

He also affirmed that his government will not provide military aid or fund the continuation of the war, expressing hope that his ruling party Fidesz – Hungarian Civic Alliance will win the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Moscow: Advancing Militarily While Keeping Negotiation Door Open

In Moscow, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that negotiations to resolve the conflict in Ukraine have temporarily paused due to the United States focusing on other priorities in the Middle East. He added that European countries are concentrating their efforts on supporting Ukrainian military operations rather than advancing peace.

Peskov added that Russia remains open to political solutions despite its military advantage, stating: “The dynamics on the front are positive for us; we are advancing and approaching our objectives, but as President Vladimir Putin has said, we remain open to a diplomatic settlement.”
