Syria and Lebanon: Border Crossing Reopens, Entry Exemptions for Lebanese Nationals

The Syrian Ministry of Interior has announced the exemption of Lebanese citizens from visa fees and the granting of residency rights in Syrian territory for up to six months without any entry charges.

In its official statement, the Ministry also indicated the adoption of a new classification system for countries based on nationality, with varying entry fees determined by the nature of bilateral relations and established diplomatic standards.

Previously, the General Authority for Land and Sea Border Crossings in Syria confirmed the reopening of the Al-Arida border crossing with Lebanon at the beginning of June, despite ongoing restoration and maintenance works at the site. The crossing had been closed for an extended period following Israeli airstrikes in late 2024.

According to the Authority, the reopening aims to facilitate the movement of citizens and travelers between the two countries ahead of the Eid al-Adha holiday, and to ease travel burdens during this period.
