Turkey Renews Support for Syria’s Reconstruction; Erdoğan Warns Against Neutrality in the Face of Injustice

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan affirmed that Turkey will not tolerate any attempts to undermine Syria’s reconstruction process, emphasizing that terrorist organizations have no place in the country’s future.

Speaking aboard his plane on his return from the United States, Erdoğan stated that Turkey is working to develop cooperation projects with Syria across all sectors, while maintaining respect for the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Erdoğan noted that the goal is to enable all Syrians, regardless of their identity, to live side by side in peace. He confirmed that the Syrian leadership shares Turkey’s vision and stressed that any actions encouraging terrorist organizations will not be tolerated, calling on the international community to take steps to ensure peace and stability.

During his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, Trump highlighted Erdoğan’s role in recent developments in Syria, noting his part in the removal of the previous regime. Trump also referenced Erdoğan’s support for lifting longstanding U.S. sanctions on Syria, facilitating the country’s ability to begin the reconstruction process.

Neutrality Is Not True Neutrality

In a separate context, Erdoğan emphasized that remaining neutral in the face of injustice does not constitute true neutrality. He highlighted the importance of increasing international pressure on Israel following recognition decisions by several Western countries regarding the State of Palestine. Erdoğan stated that achieving a two-state solution requires a unified stance from the international community, legal institutions, civil society, and public opinion leaders.
