US-China Deal on TikTok Nears Final Signing
White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt confirmed on Saturday that a US-China deal on TikTok is close to being finalized, with the official signing expected in the coming days.

Speaking to Fox News, Leavitt explained that the agreement will place the popular short-video platform under U.S. ownership, ensuring stronger oversight and data security. “We are fully confident the deal will be concluded. What remains now is the signing, and both teams are working together to achieve this,” she said.
American Oversight of TikTok Operations
According to Leavitt, the deal stipulates that Americans will occupy six of the seven seats on the board of directors overseeing TikTok’s operations in the United States. She also noted that TikTok’s algorithm will come under U.S. control, while Oracle will be responsible for managing the app’s data and security.
Algorithm at the Center of Negotiations
The algorithm, widely regarded as the key driver behind TikTok’s global success, has been the most sensitive issue in negotiations between Washington and Beijing. U.S. officials insisted on direct control over it to address cybersecurity and data protection concerns.
U.S. Position Confirmed by Trump
President Donald Trump announced on Friday that the TikTok deal had received initial approval following a phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping, a move signaling that the long-debated US-China deal on TikTok is in its final stages.
